Man convicted of murdering his girlfriend dies at Mountain View Correctional Facility

A person convicted of bludgeoning his girlfriend to dying in 2006 died Thursday in response to the Maine Division of Corrections.
Shannon Atwood, 53, was a resident of Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston. He died at roughly 8:23 a.m., the division mentioned in a press launch. His “dying was attended by medical personnel.”
Reached by e mail, a spokesperson mentioned the division “can’t touch upon the reason for dying at the moment.”
Atwood started serving a sentence for homicide in 2009. His earliest launch date would have been August 2054.
