Man charged after allegedly inflicting 3-vehicle crash on I-95

An Augusta man was charged Monday after he allegedly precipitated a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Pittsfield.

Larry DiPietro, 75, was driving a grey 2005 Hyundai north on I-95 about 11:45 a.m. when he slowed down to make use of a freeway crossover, in accordance with Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Division of Public Security.

That then precipitated a three-vehicle collision as different drivers tried to keep away from DiPietro, Moss mentioned.
